Thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make our Christmas celebrations the joy filled occasions that they were!  May you be blessed for your time and talents!

Burrr...is this Georgia?

December 14, 2010
I woke up this morning and it was 29deg. outside - what is up with that?  I thought when I came to GA I left behind the snow and cold, which, by the way, I do NOT like.  This too shall pass and before long, them pesky gnats will be bugging me again...

We just aren't a happy people - and maybe that is due to original sin?  All I know is that our eyes must be kept on the goal and that is eternal life!  NO cold, NO gnats - just pure joy and love!

Prayer Requests...

November 12, 2010

I'm never sure if anyone reads these - but, this morning the Diocese sent us an email stating that Fr. Chidi Osondu, who was ordained with me at the Cathedral 5yrs. ago, is in critical condition.  Fr. Chidi had to leave the USA due to some immigration issues and papers and spent the past two or three years in Germany studying.  He then had to get a kidney transplant and was in India when his brother donated his.  Shortly after, Fr. Chidi's body rejected the Kidney and he has had to stay in In...

Chilly Days...

November 6, 2010

Well, the wind is blowing and the sun is shining and its 45deg. here in Douglas... Someone told me that winter was only two weeks long here in Georgia, so I signed up!  Guess it's going to be a long spring at this time.

Speaking of time, it's time to set the clocks back an hour - so, be sure you all stay up until 2am tonight to set the clock back.  It's always fun to see how many people forget and show up for morning mass an hour earlier.

But setting time back an hour or forth an hour isn't all...

Our Duty to vote and the Catechism of the Catholic Church

#2239
It is the duty of citizens to contribute along with the civil authorities to the good of society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom. The love and service of one's country follow from the duty of gratitude and belong to the order of charity. Submission to legitimate authorities and service of the common good require citizens to fulfill their roles in the life of the political community.

Vacation...

October 24, 2010

I realize how blessed I am to be able to take a vacation.  I know that there are many people who don't have the opportunity to do such and I am indeed very grateful for the ability to come back to Rhode Island and visit with my mom and family.  It's good to get away. Besides spending quality time with family, it's good to see the change in the leaves this autumn, and to visit places that have given me spiritual graces along my journey.  Places like http://abbey.msmabbey.org/ where I go for ev...

Congratulations Ed Drexler - Ministry of Lector

October 11, 2010

In liturgical celebrations each one, minister or layperson, who has an office to perform, should do all of, but only, those parts which pertain to that office by the nature of the rite and the principles of liturgy.

Servers, readers, commentators, and members of the choir also exercise a genuine liturgical function. They ought to discharge their office, therefore, with the sincere devotion and decorum demanded by so exalted a ministry and rightly expected of them by God’s people.

Parent/Adult Formation

October 5, 2010

Good morning to everyone out there in cybersapce.  Well, another month of Adult formation has come and gone.  I'm impressed at the number of parishioners from both Holy Family and St. Paul that are taking advantage of this program. We never quit learning about our faith - it's alive and moving and we need to do our best to try and understand the fullness of it as best we can - of course we can never absorb it all, but it can sure be fun and challenging when we study and learn together.  Thank...

The weekend again...

September 25, 2010
I'm just amazed at how quickly a week goes by - before I know it, my day off is spent in the office working on the religion programs and reading and preparing two homilies for the weekend - since it's my weekend to preach at the two Spanish masses as well as all the English masses as well.

Time is moving fast and each day we get a little bit older and for some more unhealthy - good thing we have Heaven awaiting us... are you ready????
